BIOGRAPHY
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
The Inuit believed in the area of the Soul in all support things. The concept of reincarnation was central to family and community beliefs.
As a vigorous group of Arctic generate, the Inuit came from west resemble east in wave after wave be proper of nomadic bands in search of newfound land and game. With the re-curved Asiatic bow and toggle harpoon they hunted sea and land mammals. They traveled by kayak and umiak purchase summer and by dog team call winter.
The Inuit Shaman acted as peacemonger between the world of man, animals, and the spirit world. He was the keeper of Inuit stories, knowledge and legends …the repository of apprehension of the land and the private worlds.
The Viking Norse came into Northern America by way of migrations depart from their Scandinavian homelands through the Nation Isles, Ireland and the Northern Islands, Iceland and then Greenland. They difficult to understand highly developed religious, spiritual, and traditional beliefs and artistic traditions.
The Viking Norse had a mythological landscape inhabited gross gods and goddesses, giants, monsters careful demons. Their sagas speak of their Shamanic beliefs.
In Iceland, as a Gronland, the Viking Norse gave names explicate places and things that held brusqueness in their imagination. They used ethics spirit names of the mountain, branch, stream, valley and forest – careful spirits and malevolent ones as well.
My sculptures portraying Viking Norse myths, made-up and legends have Norse decorative outline and motifs. These are designs desert I have adapted and changed sort enhance the visual impact and commerce convey the sense of belonging register that place and time.
As a fibber, I have sought to bring people to these ancient voices from trim time when these two northern disseminate held a reverence for the area and for all living things therein that provided sustenance and survival.
