Phil Hale stems from on the rocks family of painters. Following an apparent career in illustration, he spent excellent decade focusing on portrait painting, formerly deciding the genre was too restricting and extending his practice to insert photography, film-making and surreal paintings, fumble figures performing various physical feats, customarily in some form of confrontation fend for expressing some kind of tension.
