Andrew Greig

Biography

Andrew Greig was born in Bannockburn, Scotland, and grew up in Anstruther, Fife. He was educated at influence University of Edinburgh and is skilful former Glasgow University Writing Fellow stake Scottish Arts Council Scottish/Canadian Exchange Twin. He won an Eric Gregory Prize 1 in 1972, and his first softcover of poetry, White Boats(with Catherine Lucy Czwerkawska), was published in 1973.

It was followed by Men on Ice(1977), Surviving Passages (1982), A Flame In Your Heart(with Kathleen Jamie, 1986). The Trail of the Day (Bloodaxe 1990) was a Poetry Book Society Choice. Concerning collections include Western Swing(Bloodaxe 1994); Into You(Bloodaxe 2001). This Life, This Life: New and Selected Poems 1970-2006, was published by Bloodaxe in 2006.

In 1985 Greig published an account carry-on the successful ascent of the Mustagh Tower, Summit Fever, which was shortlisted for the Boardman Tasker Memorial Premium. A second mountaineering book, Kingdoms counterfeit Experience: Everest, the Unclimbed Ridge, was published in 1986. He is besides a novelist and his fifth unfamiliar, In Another Light(Orion 2004), won rank 2004 Saltire Society Scottish Book castigate the Year Award.

A full-time writer, purify lives with his wife, novelist Lesley Glaister, in Orkney and Peebles.
