Tenor instrumentalist Scott Hamilton emerged as a larger jazz talent in the late Decennary by bucking the trend. Whereas various jazz artists had gravitated toward natural jazz in the 1960s and frill fusion in the 1970s, Hamilton looked back toward swing and bop shake off the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s.
